Candle will be placed before Icon of Holy Great-Martyr and Healer Panteleimon (+305).
Living in Nikomedia, during the Christian persecutions, St. Panteleimon received a good pagan education in the sciences and became a physician. However, he rejected paganism and was baptized, dedicating his life to the suffering, the sick, the misfortunate, and the needy. He performed many miracles which caused pagan society to take notice of him, growing in hatred of him because of his Christian faith. He was tortured greatly and ultimately was beheaded in the year 305. By his intercessions, many receive miraculous healings to this day.
