St. Vladimir lived in turbulent times when various Russian tribes were frequently at war. Although born a pagan, St. Vladimir sought to know the one true God. Having heard of the teachings of Orthodoxy and the Church’s beautiful Divine Services in Constantinople, he accepted baptism and encouraged all the inhabitants of Kievan Rus’ to embrace Christianity. Because of this, St. Vladimir is known as the Baptizer of Rus’. We ask St. Vladimir to pray for us that our eyes of faith be opened, that our love for God may increase and that we may bring forth fruits of the Holy Spirit, Which we received at our own baptism.
